Work Hours: Temporary, Part-Time (Saturdays and some Sundays, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
Location: The Heights Senior Living Community

Job Summary: The Recreation Assistant is responsible for facilitating and assessing all therapeutic recreational programs in the Burnham Family Memory Care at The Heights. This role is essential in fostering a stimulating and interactive array of programs tailored to residents with dementia.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, organize, and lead recreational activities designed to enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of residents.
  • Assess the recreational needs and interests of residents, particularly those in memory care, and develop appropriate programs.
  • Facilitate group and individual activities, ensuring they are engaging and suitable for residents with varying levels of cognitive function.
  • Collaborate with the Director of the Burnham Family Residence to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and make necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate records of resident participation and progress in recreational activities.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all residents during activities.
  • Assist in the setup and cleanup of activity spaces.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote participation and engagement in recreational programs.
Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a dementia care environment is essential.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Creative and energetic approach to recreational programming.
  • Compassionate and patient demeanor.
